The Sony and Marvel blockbuster earned approximately $18 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates, demonstrating exceptional staying power more than a month after its theatrical debut. The film has now generated approximately $2.4 billion worldwide, placing it among the highest-grossing movies in cinema history. Its domestic performance has been equally extraordinary. “Brand New Day” became the fastest movie ever to cross $900 million at the North American box office, reaching the milestone after only 36 days. That puts the superhero adventure within striking distance of the all-time domestic records established by some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters. The film stars Tom Holland in his fourth solo outing as Peter Parker and reunites the actor with one of Marvel’s most recognizable characters. Its theatrical run began with historic numbers. “Brand New Day” opened to approximately $355 million in North America, one of the largest opening weekends ever recorded. The success has also helped power a broader recovery for movie theaters. Together with Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” and several other summer releases, Spider-Man contributed to Hollywood’s strongest summer box-office season since before the pandemic. With audiences continuing to turn out six weekends after release, the question is no longer whether “Brand New Day” is a blockbuster, but just how high Spider-Man can climb before his extraordinary theatrical run finally slows.
